How Intuition and an Inexpensive Wireless Alarm Thwarted a Probable Home Invasion
The call I received from a very excited woman made my day. This call was from a customer of mine who had recently purchased a wireless alarm. She had originally contacted me by phone prior to the purchase and related her particular situation. She had moved to a semi rural area, she lived alone and there had been a home invasion not far enough away from her home to make her comfortable. She was, quite frankly, frightened.
I recommended the Voice Alert System 6 because of the ease in which it could be installed, the areas that it could protect and its reasonable cost.
Her worst fears had come true. Late one night the home base sounded her recorded message that someone was coming up her rather long driveway past a locked gate. She wasn't expecting anyone at that hour so she immediately called 911 and locked herself in her bedroom.
Fortunately, it was a slow night and a K-9 police unit was in the area and responded very quickly. The officer found an unoccupied vehicle outside the woman's gate. Two male suspects were apprehended by the Police K-9 as they were attempting to scale the woman's rear fence.
The police told the woman these two suspects had prior criminal records for burglary and had outstanding felony warrants, which was good because they probably would only have been charged with a misdemeanor trespass.
This woman's intuition, warranted fear and a home protection product prevented at the very least a burglary. But, anytime burglars enter a home in the evening when there is a reasonable expectation that someone is home, it can turn into something much more sinister and dangerous. Chalk one up for the "good guys".
